Throughout the week, we will be delving into the fascinating world of science for British Science Week.
This morning, we launched the week with an assembly centered around the theme of
'time', in which we explored what time means to us and how it manifests in various
aspects of our lives.
One of the highlights of our assembly was a thoughtprovoking discussion on the diverse roles scientists play in society. Breaking away from the stereotypical image of scientists donned in white lab coats, we were privileged to hear from two scientists from the local community, who are making significant contributions to their fields of science.
Mr Bridge, who trained as a sports scientist at university before moving into education, provided an insight into the world of sports and how scientific principles underpin
athletic performance.
Dr. Amjad, an electronic Engineer, opened our eyes to the endless possibilities in the
realm of technology and computing.
Mrs. Hussain, a clinical pharmacist, shared her inspiring journey towards becoming a
scientist, emphasising the importance of dedication and perseverance.
This afternoon, our classrooms buzzed with curiosity as each class immersed
themselves in British Science Week activities - centered around the theme of time. With her expertise in clinical pharmacy, Mrs Hussain, kindly delivered practical
workshops to J4 and J8 students.
Throughout the week, children will also be taking part in a variety of online workshops
(including a farm workshop) and on Friday, each class will take part in a face to face
workshop with a local nurse!
What an exciting week ahead!
