THE AVENUES
ABOUT THE AVENUES
The Avenues are Early Years Special Needs settings which offer places to children from the early years to Key Stage 1. We are part of Belgrave St. Bartholomew’s Academy but have our own sites and staff, with buildings located across the city.

All of our amazing children are unique and have a wide variety of individual needs. We use a highly personalised approach to learning, beginning by linking our children with a key person who has the skills and specialist training to meet their individual needs.
The Early Years SEN resource offers enhanced specialist support for children whose primary area of need is communication and/or shared attention and who often have a severe speech and language delay as a result.

All children who are placed within the resource will be supported through provision as outlined in an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Children who attend the resource make good progress in language and communication due to the intensive Specialist Support, whether through the use of Makaton, PECS or spoken language.
FACILITIES
We have lovely, welcoming buildings which have had considerable improvements made to it. Our children access amazing indoor and outdoor environments which are designed to provide lots of opportunities for language enrichment and the development of play skills.
CURRICULUM
Our children follow the Foundation Stage Curriculum. The children will be taught how to play with their friends and enjoy new creative learning experiences. Individual strengths and interests are valued and provide the starting point for teaching new skills. Children are supported to develop their communication and self-help skills and learn to enjoy the world around them.
PARENTS
At The Avenues we pride ourselves on the work that we do with our parents. We recognise that parents play a key role in supporting their child’s language, social and emotional, and learning development. The Early Years SEN base will support parents within these key roles, and we are happy to attend appointments, where possible, if this is supportive to parents.
